Open my eyes, Lord!

In my devotions, I read from 2 Kings 6:8-23. Elisha is a man of God that was aiding the King of Israel. The King of Aram opposed Israel – and in so doing, opposed Elisha.

Read the passage in your Bible or online here:  http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Kings%206:8-23&version=NLT

What an awesome passage!  (If you didn’t read it yet, do it now!  Come on, it’s only 15 verses!)

Here’s what I can apply from this passage:

  1. The Lord will speak to those who seek. Elisha sought God.  And he found Him.  Everyday.  (see Jeremiah 29:13)
  2. It is good to be around those who hear from God. The King of Israel was blessed by Elisha.
  3. There is much more to our lives than what we see with our own eyes! This is probably the most astounding part of this passage!
  • We live in a spiritual world!  Most times, we are oblivious to what’s going on right around us.
  • Read Paul’s closing words to the church in Ephesus:
    • “A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.  For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”Ephesians 6:10-12 (NLT)

May our prayer be “Lord, open our eyes.  That I may see You and not be naive to the works of the devil.  May I be strong in You and Your mighty power everyday!”
