Open my eyes, Lord!

In my devotions, I read from 2 Kings 6:8-23. Elisha is a man of God that was aiding the King of Israel. The King of Aram opposed Israel – and in so doing, opposed Elisha.

Read the passage in your Bible or online here:

What an awesome passage!  (If you didn’t read it yet, do it now!  Come on, it’s only 15 verses!)

Here’s what I can apply from this passage:

  1. The Lord will speak to those who seek. Elisha sought God.  And he found Him.  Everyday.  (see Jeremiah 29:13)
  2. It is good to be around those who hear from God. The King of Israel was blessed by Elisha.
  3. There is much more to our lives than what we see with our own eyes! This is probably the most astounding part of this passage!
  • We live in a spiritual world!  Most times, we are oblivious to what’s going on right around us.
  • Read Paul’s closing words to the church in Ephesus:
    • “A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.  For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”Ephesians 6:10-12 (NLT)

May our prayer be “Lord, open our eyes.  That I may see You and not be naive to the works of the devil.  May I be strong in You and Your mighty power everyday!”

Time for a heart exam…

Think of just about any ‘reality’ show on TV today.  For many people, the enjoyment of these shows comes from watching people at their worst: the deceit, the gossip, the back-stabbing.  The fascination is akin to watching a train wreck, in that it can be hard for us to turn away, even though we know it’s something we probably shouldn’t be watching.heart - reality-tv

In my devotional time, I was reading 2 Timothy.  In this book, Paul shares his last words before his ensuing execution to his young apprentice, Timothy.  His words are heartfelt, powerful, & sincere.  They are also remarkably timely for us today.

In one passage, Paul described to Timothy what to expect in the ‘Last Days.’  Read his description & tell me if this sounds like ‘reality’ TV to you. Read More…

Facts that will change your life!

This past Sunday, I shared quite a few FACTS from God’s Word that are life-changing.  These truths are powerful.  It is my prayer that you not only read them, but meditate upon them.  Think about them until they become a part of you.  Chew on them, and allow them to nourish your soul.

Keep in mind, these are only a small sample of the many promises that we find in the Bible.  God’s Word in full of life-changing truths.  Read it & ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate His Word to you.  He will speak to you in a very personal & profound way.

Also, please add any verses that have helped you personally.  Add them in the comments section below.  I’m sure that what you share will be a blessing to others.
