The God of Peace

‎”And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.” – The Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:8-9 (NLT)

Perhaps the reason that we often don’t have peace is because we are focusing on the wrong things. Let’s change our focus & actually do (‘put into practice’) the things we see from God’s Word. “THEN the God of peace will be with you.”

Let’s shift our focus …

  • FROM the bad things we can’t control
  • TOWARD the good things that God has for us (and has revealed through his Word)

I believe that when we do that, we will begin to experience the presence of God in profound ways.

May the Lord richly bless you,

– Pastor

Why I hate RELIGION, but love JESUS!

Is Jesus really coming back?

Jesus is coming back – but no one knows when.  The Bible says his return will be like a ‘thief in the night.’  (see 1 Thess. 5:1-11)  and take a moment to read Jesus’ words in Matthew 24:36-44.

Here is an article that was written by someone who closely examined Harold Camping’s absurd calculations.    (Click here to attempt to understand the logic).

  • He’s the guy who has the billboards up everywhere.
  • (By the way, Harold Camping also predicted Jesus’ return in 1994.  He was wrong about that one, huh?)

My point is, Jesus can come back today, next Sunday, or 100 years from now.  I saw a bumper sticker that said “Jesus is coming back: look busy.”  I know it was supposed to be funny, but I think that we should always live with that expectation.

I’ll always remember hearing a pastor say that we need to live as if Jesus…

  • died on the cross yesterday
  • rose this morning
  • is coming back tomorrow

If we lived with a focus like that, I think we’ll be ok.

Have a blessed day.
